But
who are they ?
Let’s
go back a bit in time ...

My
name is Henri Collignon. Does that ring a bell ?
Yes! The grandson of the man who founded what used
to be the FAUTEUILS-HENRI firm in Ans, Liège.
That’s
me all right! Just like my father I have been steeped
in the atmosphere of the furniture business from a very
early age.
The fourth generation at your service ...
However, we have come a long way since my great grandfather’s
day : from a tiny workshop where he worked in his one-person
business, we have now developed into a large team of
employees.
A team that goes by the name of : "Les Garnisseurs
Réunis" (The Associated Furnishers).
Our store is sited near Visé, but our workshops, as
our name suggests, are spread around a bit. "Les
Garnisseurs Réunis" is the result of picking
the best from the most highly skilled craftspeople
available..
First of all in Melreux, near Hotton (Marche-en-Famenne)
where we are «associated» thanks to the services and
expertise of my father, Guy Collignon (nigh-on 40 years
of experience).
It is also thanks to him that we have managed to make
inroads into the Visé-Warsage district.
Our business has no truck with robots, or mass production
techniques so popular in Eastern Europe. What we offer
is Belgian workmanship with a Walloon workforce ! Let’s
be a bit chauvinistic for once. !

1930

My
great grandfather opened his first sales room (second-hand
goods and antiques) |
|
1950
|
|
My
grandfather Henri Collignon opened his first workshop
in rue Félix Bernard, 26, Montegnée. At the time
he was working in a tiny space at the bottom of
his garden.. The first hand-crafted goods made their
appearance. |
|
1957
|
|
Opening
of the Fauteuils-Henri store in rue de l'Yser, 185,
Ans with my grandmother. A new, bigger workshop
provided a means of producing hand-made goods on
a large scale. |
|
1967
|
|
Opening
of the Fauteuils-Henri branch in Fléron, rue de
la clé, 96. |
|
Entre
1970 et 1980
|
|
Opening
of four sales outlets in Ans : Meubles Paco-Rabane,
sales room for second-hand goods, Neupré etc. |
|
1990
|
|
The
Fauteuils-Henri store was sold to a third party.
Unfortunately, the party concerned was unable to
keep the business going for more than three years.
The Fléron sales outlet was bought by my father
Guy Collignon. |
|
1991
|
|
The
recession was taking a heavy toll, so the Fléron
store had to close down. Whereupon my father decided
to create a new workshop in the Ardennes, thereby
reviving production by craftspeople. |
|
1995
|
|
I
urged my father to try selling his hand-made goods
at trade fairs. We operated for three years or so
without a store, which gave us the time to work
on ensuring a constant flow of products. |
|
1998
|
|
Creation
of "Les Garnisseurs Réunis" store in Warsage,
which I managed with the technical assistance of
my father. We did our utmost to persuade people
to recognise the true values reflected in the breath-taking
skills of yesteryear. |

Creation
