You
like Alcantra (long lifespan). We recommend
a beechwood frame (the same sort of lifespan).
Because if this were not the case the
woodwork would come apart even before
the covering showed the first signs of
soiling.
|
 |
Only
the panels on the sides are made from compressed
wood. The bearing structure is made from
solid wood. |
|
Once the frame is assembled, it is
time to consider the seating…
There are four options
:
|
| a
standard belted bottom (low cost, for entry
level models) |
a
belted bottom interlaced and strengthened
(with nylon) |
| a
Nossac bottom (flat springs), or with
slats specially adapted to rustic oak models |
a
suspended bottom (with springs twisted
5 to 7 times) used in the past to make furniture
in the old style (upright armchair, Louis
Philippe, wing chairs, ...) |
| Picture
of belting interlaced and strengthened.
This avoids any sagging of the seats. |
 |
|
The
same technique has to be carefully applied
for the back. In contrast, care is taken
to avoid tightening the straps too much
so as to ensure maximum comfort.
|
| Depending
on the size of the customer, and if such
a request is made, a fitting can be arranged
beforehand. |
| The
shaping operation then gets underway: first
of all the fabrics are cut using templates
prepared by the person who designed the
model. Then the different materials are
assembled. Backcloths, Velcro, white foam
and Dacron® are applied. |
| The
foam is also selected according to the type
of comfort to be produced. Polyether foam
for bottom of the range items and cold-moulded
for top-of-the range ones, Bultex or Latex
for devoted admirers of the main brands. |
 |
|
Next
comes the upholstering proper. The sewing
operation now begins. Depending on the
type of holes sought, we recommend the
following finishes:
|
| EDGING
(where rope is placed in the fold of
the fabric or leather) |
SADDLING
(each seam is doubled as with horse
saddles). |
| EDGE-TO-EDGE
SEAMS (for contemporary models) |
TOPSTITCHING
(padding effect with roping) |
 |
In
the example opposite, the material is
a microfibre.
The
tightness of microfibre fabrics ensures
their longevity and makes it easier to
keep them looking like new.
|
The
final result is extremely polished. Several
shades may be used to produce contrasting
fabrics, and the shapes and sizes are endless.
Some customers design the whole living room
suite themselves or ask us to do it for
them according to their ideas (see sketch).
In
a nutshell, anything is possible. We can
work wonders with the contemporary and more
traditional techniques at our command. You
give us an idea of the size of your budget
so we can tell you what we can do for you
and the type of materials you can expect
to have… |
|
We
are willing to bet you won’t be disappointed.
Quite the contrary !!!
